More hole than rust

Thought I'd put up some pictures of poor old holey Bob. Rust in most of the usual places - front floor pans, rear floor, door bottoms, jacking points, front wings and A panels, under the back windows, boot .... At least the rear sub-frame looks in reasonable nick which saves me the trouble of replacing that.
It's definately going to be a long job!

Making a start

I first had a mini over 10 years ago. She was bright green and called Holly. I was already smitten (The Italian Job is one of my favourite films - the original I hasten to add!), but driving her was just something else. Unfortunately she was terminal and had to go. Since then I've always wanted another to play around with and do up. Paul's grandad bought himself a bright orange one to run around in, but he had to give up driving, and though I'd always secretly hoped it would come our way, it ended up with Paul's sister and her partner. He started the restoration by cutting off a wing and A panel, and had bought a few replacement panels. When they moved and had nowhere to put the car, they gave it to us. As Paul has a convertible Peugeot in the garage as his project car, I got the mini. I would say that Bob is more rust than car, but that's an understatement. It's more fresh air than rust! It will take a long time to get Bob back on the road, but I am not going to give up. Just sitting in him was fun and I can't wait to drive him again. This blog will follow the restoration process - however long it takes.
